  About Us

The Turbon Group is the largest worldwide manufacturer and distributor of aftermarket imaging supplies with an extensive product line including laser toner cartridges, inkjet cartridges, solid inks, thermal ribbons, impact ribbons and maintenance kits.  The Turbon Group operates five toner cartridge manufacturing facilities on three continents, producing high-quality, competitively priced replacement cartridges.  All Turbon Group manufacturing facilities are ISO certified, verifying that our manufacturing and quality processes meet the highest standards of the international manufacturing community.

Founded by master toolmaker Klaus Turbon in Wuppertal, Germany in 1962, the Turbon Group produced injection moulded plastic parts for a variety of technical and industrial applications.  By 1978 when the first ribbon cassettes were introduced to the market, Turbon was firmly established as the world’s leading supplier of plastic parts to the ribbon industry, with a customer base that included many OEMs.

In 1985 Turbon USA was founded with an injection moulding operation in York, Pennsylvania.  Soon to follow was the purchase of Curtis-Young Corporation, one of the US’s major assemblers of ribbon cassettes.  In 1991 the Turbon Group went public on the Frankfurt stock exchange.  Around the same time, Turbon began to transfer a considerable part of its worldwide production to Thailand.  Carbotex Thailand, a wholly owned subsidiary of Turbon AG, was created.

Conscious of the decline in ribbon based printers, Turbon entered the non-impact printing market in 1995 with the acquisition of the Kores Nordic Group in Europe, one of the oldest companies in the image transfer business, and several key strategic acquisitions in the US including JetFill and Laser Ink.

JetFill was one of the pioneers in inkjet cartridge remanufacturing, and is now a recognized brand leader in the US inkjet supplies industry.  Formerly based in Houston, Texas, the company’s activities have now been integrated into the Curtis-Young operation in New Jersey, along with the toner remanufacturing business of Laser Ink.

With a continuing commitment to non-impact printing, Turbon acquired the Accutone Europe Group in 1998, which includes Europe’s largest toner remanufacturer, TonerFill, located in the Netherlands. Shortly afterwards Turbon started laser toner remanufacturing in Thailand, and today, this is Turbon’s largest manufacturing facility.

In 2003, Turbon began toner cartridge manufacturing operations in Romania.  A new production facility was built and full operations began in May 2004.

Today, the Turbon Group is the largest worldwide aftermarket manufacturer and distributor of printer consumables.  All of our manufacturing and distribution facilities have coordinated product development, enabling us to produce consistent, top-quality products the whole world over.  We are uniquely positioned to meet the growing needs of our worldwide distribution partners.

Turbon is publicly traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the listing 750450.
